Description

Macna Cooling Evo Vest

The combination of warm temperatures and body heat allows the water in the vest to evaporate. This creates a climate effect on the membrane of the vest, which cools your skin naturally. In contrast to conventional vests using similar cooling techniques, this vest stays dry both inside and out. When fully filled, it cools down for up to 3 days! After use, the vest should be hung up to allow moisture to drain away. Once the vest is completely dry, it can only be moved.

It works most of the time. It has to fit snugly for you to feel the cooling effect. But the cooling effect wears down after prolonged exposure to high heat and humidity because the water in the vest becomes warm and cancels out the evaporation cooling effect. Also, the water inlet liner got separated from the rubber seal, so I had to use a special glue to re-seal it. And this is just after 1 month of usage. The quality is questionable, but I am still overall happy with my purchase because I'd still rather wear it than not in hot weather.

I have now used this vest over about 500 miles of riding, mostly in hot conditions, topping out at 107F. The first ride I did was 102F, and it felt like riding on an 85F degree day. At 107, I was comfortable (wish there were a version for helmets!). The greatest virtue of this vest, compared to most cooling vests, is that it is relatively dry (except for your own perspiration) on the inside. You don't end a hot ride feeling like a poached frog. I would say this product beats the competition by a very long shot. I wear it under a KLIM Marrakesh jacket, which has phenomenal circulation for hot weather. The combination is a total winner.
